On Sunday we heard from the Apostle Paul. He reminds us of what Jesus has done for us and how that should affect our lives. He uses that very unpopular word: Sin!

We often cringe when we hear that word, but it is important that we understand it! Sin is, put simply, when we put ourselves in the middle – i is, after all, in the middle of the word – rather than putting others first.

I remember the use of JOY from my youth – Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last.

Last week we looked at FROG – Fully Rely On God.

I also remember PUSH – Pray Until Something Happens! I recall wristbands which carried the message WWJD – What Would Jesus Do.

The Holy Spirit is working inside each of us to make us more like Jesus, the ultimate example of living God’s way. We have to admit that is a hard job. There is a lot to sort out inside all of us.

Baggage, fear, shame, distrust, hurt. Much that can make it hard for us to behave as Jesus would want.

Acronyms are useful aide-memoires, but we simply must not forget Jesus’ example shown in His Life and Death and Resurrection.

That is what we are reminded of each week as we gather together – how much God loves us!

Be reminded with us,

As usual …

God Bless,

REV Mark RS Smith
