Connect Bible Study

Event Details

This event finished on 21 November 2024

Connect is welcoming and lively whilst improving our understanding of the bible and our relationship with God.

We are delighted to include people from different traditions and this has helped us to deepen our understanding as we share God’s word together.

If you are looking to perhaps enhance your own bible studies, whilst surrounded by a fantastic group of friendly and knowledgable people, then Connect really could be the group for you.

We’d be delighted to welcome you along.

Please email Tim Harmer at timharmer95@gmail.com for more details.

Mark writes:

“The Letter of Paul to the Romans is (arguably) his most important letter, perhaps the most important ever written by a Christian. For many it is the Gospel According to Paul! Paul wrote his letter almost certainly from the city of Corinth (Greece) between 55 and 57 AD. He expounds the Gospel he had been preaching to avoid misconceptions and misunderstandings.

THEOLOGY – He counsels the Christians in Rome in the midst of difficult times in the Capital City of the great Empire.

PRACTICALITY – He encourages them with blessings as they seek to follow “the Way” of Christ.

SPIRITUALITY – As one scholar has put it:  “The central theme of Pauls’ letter to the Christian communities in Rome is the universal scope of God’s Redemptive Act in Jesus Christ, offered to all who accept it in trust. That redemption, by which God re-establishes His Gracious Lordship over His rebellious creation, is offered not only to Jews but also to Gentiles.”, Paul J Achtemeier in The Oxford Companion to the Bible.

We will encounter some big words: Justification, Redemption, Righteousness, etc. We will encounter some long sentences! Together we will be edified and encouraged as we engage with this important Epistle. Yes … lots of E words too!”
